Gord Harris Gord received an Honors B.Sc. degree in Physics at the University of Guelph in 1975 and an Honors B.F.A. degree in Film Production at York University. His past work has combined science and art as a broad generalist in technology & filmmaking, in over 24 years of work at IMAX Corporation. In 1977 he founded the IMAX® Camera Department and later helped develop new R&D technologies, such as the LC glasses & 3D Dome projection system for Expo '90, SANDDE, and 3D cameras. He holds several patents for his inventions. Gord also worked as Assistant Cameraman and Technical Advisor on the Space films and filmed the Titanic wreck from a submersible. He founded Digital Imaging at IMAX and did the first 15/70 film recording & scanning in the company in the 80's. He became Manager of Film Technology in 1993 where he ran the Digital Imaging Facility and provided specialized technical support to large-format films. He also managed long term R&D projects, particularly in the electronic display, interactive and camera/film related areas. He assisted the Space Team on putting 3D lights and cameras aboard the International Space Station. He is a member of ACM and a past member of SMPTE, PMI, GSTA, and LFCA. Gord founded and ran go-R&D Consulting in 2000. In 2004 he joined Christie Digital to work in Visual Environments on research and development of visualization and simulator systems, where he works today. |
